Political Manifesto of the Alliance for Social Action

We, members of the Alliance for Social Action, a non-governmental organization for human rights and international cooperation;

Concerned about the state of human rights worldwide, the civilian victims in armed conflicts, displaced persons, migrants in need of assistance, the political prisoners, and the growing inequality gap between individuals, societies, and nations;

Alarmed by the setbacks in freedom and democratic values and the declining ability of governments, civil society, and the international community to advance sustainable development goals; and

Convinced of the role, capabilities, and leadership of empowered citizen action within civil society to promote a future of justice, peace, and prosperity for nations and the international community,

  1. We reaffirm the call to build peace and sustainable development, upholding the conviction that the fruits of prosperity, social progress, and political stability are also within reach for the Global South. We believe in international cooperation as a tool and pathway for solidarity and fraternity among citizens.
  2. We urge civil societies and grassroots movements to engage in open dialogue and democratic renewal, strengthening the rule of law, accountability, and social and political reconciliation, particularly in conflict-affected societies.
  3. We commit to promoting a shared future of freedom and equity, in which we transition—both as national and international communities—from an ethic of dispossession to one of respect for human dignity and pluralistic, fraternal dialogue as guiding principles of coexistence. We further embrace the concerns of individuals and communities marginalized and excluded by national powers and the international order to:

    • Defend the human rights of activists, communities, minorities, and vulnerable and disadvantaged groups;
    • Encourage freedom of expression and the creation of counter-hegemonic values and narratives;
    • Support, rescue, and provide shelter, humanitarian aid, and opportunities for social integration to migrants, victims of human trafficking, and displaced persons; and
    • Assist peace efforts, policy coordination, and consensus-building to advance the democratization processes.

The ALAS NGO dedicates itself to the human endeavor of achieving freedom, equality, and inclusion for all communities and individuals. Our faith in the human spirit upholds the vision of progress as the pursuit of all freedoms and coexistence for collective prosperity. We dedicate the work of the Alliance for Social Action to these ideals of justice and peace.
